Freedom House publishes Freedom of the Press 2013, and our featured topics on Afghanistan, Dagestan, Nigeria and Somalia were updated

Freedom House publishes its annual report Freedom of the Press. The country reports will be added to ecoi.net as soon as they become available. Our featured topics on Afghanistan (security situation in Kabul), Dagestan (security situation), Nigeria (Boko Haram) and on Somalia (events related to al-Shabaab) were updated.

The first 10 country reports of Freedom of the Press 2013 (covering 2012) have been published on 1 May 2013 as draft versions and are now available on ecoi.net. Additional country reports will added (and subsequently be replaced by their final versions) as soon as they become available on freedomhouse.org. (Note: the country chapters of Freedom in the World 2013 are also gradually added to ecoi.net since January as they become available on freedomhouse.org)

The featured topics on Nigeria and Somalia have been updated. ecoi.net’s featured topics offer an overview on selected issues in our focus countries.
