In August 2018, we updated our country priorities. These priorities define which sources are covered on ecoi.net, i.e. which documents you can expect to find for a country. The update is based on Austrian, European and global asylum statistics and affects what sources we cover for what countries.

Handbook on the verification of user-generated content for journalists and aid responders released

The European Journalism Center released a handbook on the verification of digital content, which is freely available online. While it is primarily targeted at journalists and aid responders, it provides valuable advice for anyone researching user-generated content / social media.

We now cover more sources regularly on ecoi.net: three additional UN committees, two additional UN missions, the Inter Press Service news agency, the Women News Network, and Caucasian Knot.

March 2009 Issue of the Researcher

The Researcher is published three times a year by the Refugee Documentation Centre (RDC) in Ireland. It is a publication which combines academic papers, summaries of caselaw, guides to new legislation, reports of conferences, articles on RDC services and items of country of origin information.

Compendium of COI Sources by UK Home Office (2007)

The sources have been compiled by the UK COI Service on a country by country basis from contributions provided by Australia, Belgium, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Sweden, the UK, USA, and also ecoi.net.

Additional Sources covered since April 2007

ecoi.net collects information for 160 countries from 120 sources on a daily basis to facilitate access to country of origin information relevant in refugee status determination procedures. The list of sources was currently revised and updated and is now available for download.
