ACCORD celebrates its 10th anniversary!

The Austrian Centre for Country of Origin & Asylum Research and Documentation, the department of the Austrian Red Cross running ecoi.net, was founded 10 years ago. It has since provided independently, neutrally and objectively researched information on countries of origin of asylum seekers to all parties involved in refugee status determination procedures.

In the past 10 years, ACCORD produced more than 6500 query responses, held COI Seminars on more than 25 countries jointly with UNHCR, and undertook Fact-Finding-Missions to 5 countries.

ACCORD’s public COI portal, ecoi.net, is used worldwide to access country information. About 100.000 documents are available for full-text search, and more than 1400 users registered for the personalisation features.

More than 900 people have been reached with COI trainings or lectures by ACCORD and the COI Training Network. ACCORD and partner organisations like the Refugee Documentation Centre (Ireland) or the Hungarian Helsinki Committee, with support from UNHCR, established the COI Training Network (www.coi-training.net) from several transnational projects funded by the European Refugee Fund, Community Action.

To celebrate this anniversary, an improved search interface will be launched on ecoi.net in the coming weeks. With the help of our bilingual COI Thesaurus, it will allow you to narrow and broaden your search.
