January 20, 2015

Afghan authorities say dozens of Taliban fighters and other militants have been killed in military operations across the country over the past several days.

A Defense Ministry statement on January 20 said at least seven militants and seven soldiers were killed in operations over the past 24 hours.

According to the ministry, security forces killed "52 armed insurgents" including two senior commanders, and wounded dozens more a day earlier.

Most of the operations were conducted in eastern provinces, including Konar, Nangarhar, and Paktika.
