Government treatment of Jaali tribe members and whether women particularly, single women are able to travel freely across the country [SDN32212.E]

No reports on government treatment of Jaali tribe members could be found among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate.

According to Country Reports 1998, freedom of movement, among other freedoms, was "severely" restricted in 1998 (1999, 393). Women were prohibited from travelling abroad without authorization from their husbands or guardians. Although travel across the country was not prohibited, for those travelling outside the war zones, who failed to produce identity cards at check points risked being arrested (ibid., 400).

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum. Please see the list of additional sources consulted in researching this Information Request.
