For information on the Lawyers for Human Rights and Development (LHRD), please consult the attached letter, which was faxed to the DIRB on 12 April 1996 by the South Asia Project Officer of International Alert (IA) in London, United Kingdom. In a telephone interview on 19 March 1996, the South Asia Project Officer stated that IA is a politically-independent group that works for conflict resolution in Sri Lanka and various other countries.

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the DIRB within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
