The Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party of Lebanon (Hizb al-Ba'ath al Arabi al-Ishtirabi) split into two factions in the mid-seventies, one faction backing the Syrian forces which initially supported Christian militias, while the other faction supported Iraq.
