Information on the treatment of persons returned to Iran [IRN7207]

Further information on this subject were reports in the Los Angeles Times of 19 September 1990. According to this newspaper, Iraq is delivering Iranian resistance movement members operating in Iraq to Iranian authorities in exchange for the Islamic regime's aid. Among the Iranians sent back to Iran recently as prisoners of war were a number of members of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, commonly known as the People's Mujahedin (Ibid.). This group is one of the best-organized opposition group against the Iranian government and because of this its members are regularly executed when caught (Ibid.). Therefore, according The Los Angeles Times, these Iranian opposition members will almost certainly be executed.
