No reference to a Movimiento Liberal Campesino (MLC) could be found among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate. One of the largest peasant organizations in the country, the National Coordination of Peasant Organizations (Coordinadora Nacional de Organizaciones Campesinas, CNOC), which is represented in 19 of Guatemala's 22 departments, including El Quiché, stated that it was unaware of such a peasant group (19 July 2000).
