Information on the language spoken by members of the Ogoni tribe [NGA23793.E]

According to a representative at the Nigerian High Commission in Ottawa (17 Apr. 1996) and an article published in African Affairs, Ogoni is the language of the Ogoni ethnic group (1995, 327). The language is also comprised of various dialects spoken by individual sub-groups (ibid.).

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the DIRB within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
