According to a representative at the
Nigerian High Commission in Ottawa (17 Apr. 1996) and an article
published in African Affairs, Ogoni is the language of the
Ogoni ethnic group (1995, 327). The language is also comprised of
various dialects spoken by individual sub-groups (ibid.).
This Response was prepared after
researching publicly accessible information currently available to
the DIRB within time constraints. This Response is not, and does
not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular
claim to refugee status or asylum.
