Update to MDA15489.E concerning the situation of Jews in Moldova [MDA17512.E]

In addition, in November 1993 the international affairs department of B'Nai B'rith's Washington office reported on the general situation of Jews in Moldova and the Caucasus region. Within the context of armed conflicts and separatist movements in those countries, B'Nai B'rith commented that "the chief danger for Jews is getting caught in the crossfire, and conceivably - given historical proclivities - being scapegoated by one side or another if it fails to achieve its objectives" (Nov. 1993, 6).

This response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the DIRB within time constraints. This response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
