Country Overview: Chad recorded 14 terrorist attacks in 2024. Terrorism threats were prevalent in population centers around Lake Chad, with multiple attacks reported on military and civilian targets in the Lac and Hadjer-Lamis regions. BH and ISIS-WA maintained a minimal presence in Chad, with BH being the more active group. Illicit trade often funds terrorist groups operating in the Lake Chad region. Porous borders provided easy passage for terrorists and criminal entities. Chadian armed forces led missions within the Sahel that contributed to regional security.
2024 Terrorism Trends: BH continued to use IEDs in the Lake Chad region and conducted raids with small arms.
