Belarusian authorities said on April 8 that they have launched a probe against self-exiled activist Bazhena Zholudz, the leader of the Kyiv-based Belarusian House in Ukraine (BDU) that helps Belarusians fleeing persecution at home. Zholudz is accused of taking part in an armed group's activities abroad, insulting a judge, illegal compilation of personal data, and the distribution of false information. Zholudz took over the BDU after its former leader, her boyfriend, Vital Shyshou, was found dead in a park near his home in Kyiv in 2021.
