Information on the Ahmed Said-Turiyare clan including their location, major tribal affiliation, experience in Somalia as a result of civil war, and unique qualities, if any [SOM28004.E]

Specific information on the Ahmed Said-Turiyare clan including their location, major tribe affiliation, experience in Somalia as a result of civil war, and unique qualities of the clan could not be found among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate. However, according to a map showing the geographical distribution of Somali clans contained in the Information Session on Country Conditions on Somalia (IRB Toronto Front 15 Feb. 1996) on page 121 and 122 the Ahmed, Turriar and Saddi are listed as sub subclans of the Abgaal. It is not clear whether the Turriar and the Saddi are the same as the Said-Turiyare. For information on the Abgaal clan and its location and experience in the Somali war, please consult Response to Information Request SOM16167.E of 10 January 1994 which is available at Regional Documentation Centres.

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information

currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
