Information Amnesty International has on homosexuality in Malaysia [MYS20821.E]

According to a fax received from Amnesty International on 29 May 1995, while there are penalties for homosexual acts stipulated in the Malaysian Penal Code and in the laws of several states, AI researchers are unable to state whether or not these laws are enforced. For additional information, please consult the attachment. A review of AI documents on homosexuality available at Regional Documentation Centres revealed no additional information concerning the situation of homosexuals in Malaysia.

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the DIRB within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
