No references to a Narodnyy Front could be found among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate, and no references could be found in the period January 2000 - August 2001 to a People's Front.

However, there was a pro-Romanian Popular Front of Moldova (PFM) established in 1989 (Eastern Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States 1999 1998, 542; Christian Democratic People's Party 2000; United Nations in Moldova n.d.). Eastern Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States 1999 reported that in 1992 the PFM reformed into the Christian Democratic Popular Front (CDPF) (1998, 543), while the United Nations in Moldova reported that in 1992 the PFM became the Christian Democratic People's Front Alliance after merging with the Christian Democratic Party (n.d.a) and Political Handbook of the World 1999 reported that the pro-Romanian Christian Democratic People's Front was formed in 1992 from the Popular Front of Moldova (1999, 651).

Another report on the Website of the United Nations in Moldova states that The People's Front was established in May 1989 (n.d.b). A Website identifying itself as that of the Christian Democratic People's Party (CDPP) [Partidul Popular Crestin Democrat] claims that the " CDPP is the only successor in law and title of the Democratic Movement of Moldova (1988-1989), of the Popular Front of Moldova (1989-1992) and the Popular Christian Democratic Front (1992-1999)" (n.d. art.5). A 27 February 2001 report from The OSINT Group identifies the Christian-Democratic Party as the former People's Front.
