Information on the April 1995 riots in Islamshahr, including whether the protestors were photographed or videotaped, and whether the Iranian government is taking any action against people who participated in the riots [IRN22740.E]

The attached AFP (6 Apr. 1995), Voice of Mojahed (5 Apr. 1995), IRNA (4 Apr. 1995), Voice of the Islamic Republic of Iran First Program (4 Apr. 1995), and Israel Television Channel 1 Network (5 Apr. 1995) reports and the attached page of Keesing's Record of World Events provide information on the April 1995 riots in Islamshahr and the arrest, injury and killing of demonstrators.

According to the attached 7 April 1995 Amnesty International Urgent Action, "hundreds of people" were arrested following the April 1995 demonstrations in Islamshahr. Another attached Urgent Action refers to press reports on the future trials of 50 arrestees (AI 9 June 1995).

Sources consulted by the DIRB do not provide information on Iranian security forces photographing or videotaping protestors in Islamshahr.
