Information on whether Punjab is still in a state of emergency (President's Rule) [IND12496]

The DIRB has no information as to whether Punjab is still under President's rule. However, elections were held on 19 February 1992 which "gave an opportunity to the people of Punjab to restore a popular government in the troubled state which had been under president's rule for the last 57 months" (All India Radio Network 19 Feb. 1992).
