The following information was provided to the Research Directorate by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Athens, Greece:

1996 Asylum applications: 0 Recognitions: 0 Rejections: 0
1997 Asylum applications: 1 Recognitions: 0 Rejections: 0
1998 Asylum applications: 0 Recognitions: 0 Rejections: 1
As you may understand, there was one asylum application by a Georgian national filed in 1997, for which a negative decision was issued by the Greek authorities in 1998 (1 Apr. 2002).

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints.
