Information on recent (1991-95) actions by
Chilean authorities against persons who might have been associated
with the MAPU party before 1990 could not be found among the
sources consulted by the DIRB.

Request CHL4645 of 14 March 1990 for background information on
Movimiento de Acción Popular Unitaria (MAPU). Current
information on links between MAPU (not the MAPU-Lautaro splinter
group referred to in CHL20261.E) and armed opposition groups of
Chile could not be found among the sources consulted by the DIRB,
and the available reports on recent government actions against
members of the armed groups of Chile do not mention whether those
arrested or killed were associated in any way with MAPU before
1990.
This Response was prepared after
researching publicly accessible information currently available to
the DIRB within time constraints. This Response is not, and does
not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular
