In response to questions transmitted via
Citizenship and Immigration Canada, the Head of Legal Affairs of
the Nationality Directorate in Abu Dhabi stated that the official
proof of UAE citizenship is a document titled 'Statement of Record'
(22 Feb. 1999). The Head of Legal Affairs added that some types of
UAE passports are issued to entitle the bearer to social services
and do not serve as proof of citizenship.
This Response was prepared after
researching publicly accessible information currently available to
the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is
not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any
