Information on whether English was taught in high schools in Kabul in the period from 1987 to 1990 and whether learning Russian was compulsory in the same period [AFG15466.E]

According to a representative of the Embassy of Afghanistan in Washington, DC, as a second language, English or French was taught in high schools in Afghanistan in the 1980s (17 Nov. 1993). The representative adds that even though Russian was taught in some high schools in the same period, learning Russian was not compulsory for students.
