Police, Protesters Clash At Pakistan Rally Against Anti-Islam Film

Protesters angry at the anti-Islam film "Innocence of Muslims" clashed with police in Islamabad on September 20 as they tried to make their way to the U.S. embassy.

Police fired tear gas and live ammunition to keep more than 1,000 protesters away from Islamabad's diplomatic quarter, which includes embassies and government offices.

Up to 50 people reportedly were injured in the clashes.

Streets leading to the diplomatic quarter were lined with truck containers to cordon off the area.

The protesters, many of them students, later dispersed.

At least 19 people have been killed in protests against the film across the Muslim world.

The U.S. State Department on September 20 warned U.S. citizens to avoid travel to Pakistan.
