The existence of the Instituto Pre-Universitario de Malongo school in Cabinda, Angola; whether Vila Malongo 303B, Cabinda, Angola and/or Rua Avenida Brasil No. 1, Cabinda, Angola are the correct addresses for the Instituto Pre-Universitario de Malongo [AGO43109.E]

In a telephone interview on 28 October 2004, a representative of Development Workshop (DW), a non-governmental organization (NGO) based in Luanda, Angola, stated that in Cabinda City in Cabinda province, Angola, there exists a school called the Instituto Pre-Universitario de Malongo. The exact address could not be confirmed by the Research Directorate within time constraints. No other information on this particular school could be found by the Research Directorate within time constraints.

However, according to the representative of DW, "pre-universitario" also means secondary school or the school years before university. Therefore, the following information on the school system in Angola may be helpful.

The Center for Global Education's report on Angola's education system states that there are three tracks of secondary school for students between the ages of 14 and 18 years, including "pre-university," which lasts three years (n.d.), while the Women's Commission for Refugee Women and Children (WCRWC) states that there are two tracks of secondary school, including a "three-year general track (pre-university)" (Dec. 2003).

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim for refugee protection.
