According to an APS Diplomat Fate of the
Arabian Peninsula report, Samir Geagea was born in 1952 in
Besharri, a town on the Qadisha gorge in north Lebanon
approximately 64 km. northeast of Beirut (27 Apr. 1992).
A United Press International report of 27
April 1994 stated earlier this month the Lebanese army imposed a
siege around Geagea's house in his birthplace village of Ghidras,
22 km. northeast of Beirut.
This response was prepared after
researching publicly accessible information currently available to
the DIRB within time constraints. This response is not, and does
not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular
claim to refugee status or asylum.
