Information provided to the Research Directorate by the Embassy of Israel, in Ottawa, indicates that a child who was born in Israel to non-Israeli parents and who has been living illegally in Israel for five years is not eligible to receive Israeli citizenship and has no rights to citizenship in Israel (31 Mar. 2004).
