According to a consular official with the
Indian High Commission in Ottawa, Indian officials routinely check
passports of all individuals departing on international flights
from New Delhi airport. In particular, they verify whether or not
such persons have the necessary visa stamps to enter their country
of destination (4 July 1994).
This response was prepared after
researching publicly accessible information currently available to
the DIRB within time constraints. This response is not, and does
not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular
claim to refugee status or asylum.
