HRW: Syrian Forces Remove Wounded From Hospitals

September 09, 2011
Human Rights Watch says Syrian security forces have "forcibly removed" 18 wounded people from a hospital in Homs during a raid on the city this week.

The rights group cited witnesses, including doctors, in a report it released on September 8.

The central city of Homs has been a flashpoint of protests against President Bashar al-Assad's regime.

Activists say at least 20 people were killed during a raid on September 7.

The United Nations estimates that more than 2,200 people have been killed in the crackdown since protests against Assad's regime began in March.
