Son Of Iranian Opposition Leader Karrubi Detained
February 22, 2011
An Iranian opposition website has reported that Iranian authorities have arrested the son of prominent opposition leader Mehdi Karrubi.
The report says Ali Karrubi was taken into custody along with his wife, Mafiseh Panahi, on February 21.
Panahi was reportedly later released.
Karrubi and fellow opposition leader Mir Hossein Musavi have been under house arrest since last week after they called for a February 14 rally in support of uprisings in Tunisia and Egypt.
At least two people were killed as protesters clashed with security forces on February 14 in the largest opposition-led protest seen in Iran in over a year.
