Information on whether a person who was
born in the Abkhazia region of the former Georgian Socialist
Republic and who possessed Georgian citizenship following the
independence of Georgia, and who left Georgia in 1992 and
subsequently acquired Russian citizenship is considered by the
Georgian authorities to be a citizen of Georgia and, if not,
whether such a person would be entitled to reacquire Georgian
citizenship and, if so, the procedures to be followed, could not be
found among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate.
This Response was prepared after
researching publicly accessible information currently available to
the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is
