Whether a father's signature of approval is obligatory to have a child's name included in the mother's passport [ALB42143.E]

An information sheet on Albanian passport and visa regulations published by the Albanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs notes that a child is registered on either parent's passport upon the agreement of the other parent and with submission of an original birth certificate or a notarized photocopy thereof (Albania n.d.). The document does not specify how approval is acknowledged in this respect, and the Embassy of the Republic of Albania in Ottawa was unable to reply to the Research Directorate within the time constraints of this Response.

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
