In Yemen, security forces and government loyalists have clashed with antigovernment protesters on the seventh consecutive day of demonstrations calling for the president's resignation.

Earlier today in the capital, Sanaa, armed government loyalists chased off a small group of protesters.

Police failed to contain loyalists trying to attack the antigovernment protesters meeting at Sanaa University, who were forced to flee but later regrouped.

Police were later involved in the melee with antigovernment protests.

Clashes were reported today in several other towns, including the port city of Aden.

More than a dozen people have been reported wounded in the violence.

Demonstrators are demanding an end to President Ali Abdullah Saleh's 32-year rule.

One protester was killed by police in the southern port city of Aden on February 16, the first confirmed death since the protests began.
