Update to Reponse to Information Request BGD22311.E of 21 November 1995 on problems experienced by Ahmadis (Qadianis) [BGD22588.E]

In an 8 December 1995 letter sent to the DIRB, Amnesty International (AI) indicates that "Ahmadis in Bangladesh have not been declared non-muslim by the state." AI also states that the organization has "not heard of, or seen reported, any serious attacks on Ahmadis since those reported in the October 1994 report [Bangladesh: Fundamental Rights of Women Violated with Virtual Impunity]" (ibid.). For further information, please refer to the attachment.

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the DIRB within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
