According to Article 5 of the Regulations
of the People's Republic of China Concerning Resident Identity
Cards, the public security organs are responsible for the printing,
issuance and control of resident identity cards (The Laws of
the People's Republic of China 1983-1986 1987, 188).
No information on the equipment and
processes used to produce residence identity cards and whether
these vary from year to year and/or region to region could be found
among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate.
