IRB – Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada (Autor)
A number of sources consulted by the Research Directorate indicate that the group, youth for human rights, liberty and unity (Jeunesse pour les droits de l’homme, les libertés et l’unité, JDHLU) does not appear to exist in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) (ASADHO 19 July 2010; VUAPROD 20 July 2010; RENADHOC 21 July 2010).
In correspondence sent to the Research Directorate on 18 July 2010, the national coordinator of the Collective of Youth Solidarity Organizations in Congo-Kinshasa (Collectif des organisations des jeunes solidaires du Congo-Kinshasa, COJESKI-RDC), a national network of 340 youth associations dedicated to defending human rights in the DRC (COJESKI-RDC 18 July 2010; Societecivile.cd 6 Oct. 2006), stated that the JDHLU [translation] “is not known and cannot be found in the database of youth organizations-even less so in the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s human rights NGOs database”. Further information on the JDHLU could not be found among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate.
This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim for refugee protection. Please find below the list of sources consulted in researching this Information Request.
