Information on whether the police force of Punjab has had the power to set bail bonds without the sanction of a magistrate in the period 1990 to 1992 [IND10876]
While having no specific information on the above subject, a
representative of Asia Watch in Washington, D.C. provided the
following information during a telephone interview on 19 May 1992.
Generally speaking, it is possible for the police force in Punjab
to set bail bonds without receiving the sanction of a magistrate.
However, bail bonds are rare in India.
