According to a 27 November 1986 broadcast
on "Radio Iran Toilers" from "the Central Branch of the apparatus
of the Fada'iyan-e Khalq of Iran Organization (Majority Wing)," the
organ Kar "is the main channel of communication of the
organisation's leadership with any unit for the guidance of
political, mass and publicity activities."
On 21 August 1979 the Xinhua news agency
published a dispatch according to which the revolutionary
prosecutor in Tehran, Ayatollah Azari Qomi, had issued an order
banning 26 publications, including Kar, described in the
dispatch as the "People's Fedayeen paper." Xinhua's source was the
Iranian newspaper Bamdad.
An Internet publication called "News and
Views," posted on the Internet in 1996 by the Organization of
Iranian People's Fedaian (Majority), contains a reference to "KAR"
as a source for a news item, as well as the following "new e-mail
address for 'News and Views' and KAR": fadai.aksariyat@magnet.at and
the following Internet address: http://193.80.248.16/iran.kar.fadai.aksariyat/
. The Research Directorate has not been able to access that
Internet address.
This Response was prepared after
researching publicly accessible information currently available to
the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is
not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any
particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
