Information from 1990 to present on whether identity booklets are stamped or marked when criminal investigations or convictions occur, and if so, on the type of stamp or mark for offences related to homosexuality [ROM27221.E]

In an 18 July 1997 telephone interview, the vice-president of the Romanian Helsinki Committee in Bucharest provided the following information, which represents the vice-president's viewpoint. The vice-president is not aware of any time period in which information was placed in Romanian identity booklets that directly stated, or indirectly stated by the use of codes or marks, that the holders were suspected of having committed criminal offences, were under criminal investigation or had been convicted of having committed criminal offences.
