The attached excerpts from Democracy and Human Rights in Mexico discuss the work of government and non-government human rights organizations, as well as problems faced by human rights activists in Mexico (May 1995, 47-48, 51-55). The attached sections of the Human Rights Watch World Report 1995 (1995) and the Lawyers Committee for Human Rights Critique (July 1994) report on the right to monitor human rights in Mexico and the work of organizations that do so.

The attached sections of Mexico: A Country Guide discuss non-governmental organizations in general, as well as human rights organizations. The February 1993 article "Human Rights in Mexico: Cause for Continuing Concern" includes a discussion of the recent proliferation of human rights organizations and the nature and conditions of their work (Current History, 78-82).

The attached article from Latinamerica Press describes the work of human rights groups in Chihuahua, with references to drug production in the region and the involvement of police and military (29 Apr. 1993, 4).
