In The Europa World Yearbook 2000, The News is included in a list of St. Vincent and Grenadines print media (3127). In a telephone interview with the Research Directorate, a staff person with The News stated that the paper, which published its first issue on 23 June 1989 is still in print (18 Dec. 2000). When questioned about the specified July 1998 article, the staff person could not recall such an article being published in The News (ibid.).
