Assailants Kill Lawmaker In Russia's Karachaevo-Cherkessia

A lawmaker in Russia's North Caucasus Republic of Karachaevo-Cherkessia has been killed.
A local Interior Ministry spokeswoman, Nelya Karabasheva, said on July 16 that Mukhamed Kunizhev was shot dead while playing soccer in the village of Psyzh late on the evening of July 15.
Investigators have identified two local residents as the possible assailants. A search is under way.
Kunizhev was well-known in the region for his athletic achievements in the martial arts.
He was elected to Karachaevo-Cherkessia's parliament in 2009.
