A letter written by a Ghanaian
soldier-trainee in Libya and published in the New African
(30 June 1990) states that the Ghanaian government sends
trainee-soldiers to Libya for military training. According to the
letter, death is the sentence trainee-soldiers receive for refusing
to go to Libya or for trying to escape from military camps there.
Reportedly, the same sentence is meted out to trainees who
communicate with their families in Ghana. Further information on
this subject is currently unavailable to the IRBDC in Ottawa.
2)
Information on the type of training
received and whether trainee-soldiers are expected to deal with
domestic insurrections is currently unavailable to the IRBDC in
Ottawa.
