Information on whether the Government of Jordan recognizes legal marriages performed abroad or only religious marriages [JOR14579]
According to a representative of the Embassy of Jordan in Ottawa,
in order to be recognized by the Government of Jordan, all
marriages performed inside Jordan by civilian or religious
authorities must be certified and registered. Likewise, the
government recognizes civil and religious marriages performed
abroad if marriage certificates can be presented.
Additional and/or corroborating information on the above subject
is currently unavailable to the DIRB.
