The following information was provided to
the DIRB in a 4 September 1997 e-mail from a representative of the
National Movement of Iranian Resistance (NMIR) in London. The NMIR
has members inside Iran, it carries out activities inside Iran, and
it distributes publications and communiqués inside Iran.
For more information on the NMIR, please
see the attached documents downloaded from NMIR's Internet
website.
The following information was provided to
the DIRB in an 8 September 1997 telephone interview with a
journalist in the Persian-language section of the British
Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). The source stated that he is not
aware of any evidence that the NMIR is active inside Iran.
According to a 23 June 1995 dispatch from
the Xinhua News Agency, the Iranian authorities arrested "three
members of the iranian mujahideen khalq organization (mko) and the
monarchists" in the province of Yazd. Please see the attached
article for more details. Other references to monarchist activities
inside Iran were not found among the sources consulted by the
DIRB.
This Response was prepared after
researching publicly accessible information currently available to
the DIRB within time constraints. This Response is not, and does
not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular
claim to refugee status or asylum.
