A representative of the high commission for
Sri Lanka in Ottawa states that the green print across the Sri
Lankan national ID card's laminate is a security feature (13 Jan.
1994). While unable to say exactly when the Sri Lankan government
introduced this green print, the representative maintains that it
has been a security feature at least since 1987.
