October 1992 Reuters article refers to Yukthiya as an
"anti-government" newspaper.
Information on the newspaper called

by the Research Directorate.
However, the following information may be
of interest.
According to a 21 April 1986 Xinhua
article, the Sinhalese-language newspaper Lankadipa (the
Island of Lanka) was amongst the "most popular dailies in
circulation."
The World's News Media refers to a
leading daily Sinhalese-language newspaper called
Lankadipa, which is owned by Wijeya Publications in
Colombo (1991, 476-77). A 19 February 1998 AFP report also refers
to the "mass circulation Lankadeepa daily." However,
according to Benn's Media World, Lankadipa is a
Sinhalese-language newspaper that is published daily except
Saturday (1996, 480).
According to a 19 November 1997 AFP
article, the editor of "Sri Lanka's mass circulation Sinhalese
daily, the Lankadeepa" is Siri Ranasinghe.
The World Media Handbook refers to
a Sunday newspaper called Sri Lankadipa, which is
published by Wijeya Publications Ltd. in Colombo and which has a
circulation of 75,000 (1990, 230).
