Please find attached a few documents that
provide information on General Gustavo Alvarez Martínez.
Most of the information, however, refers to his period as a member
of the Honduran security forces until his removal in 1984,
including his military training, positions held and ideology (see
pages 79-80 of Honduras: State for Sale). The attached
section from Honduras: A Country Guide provides
information on the Honduran armed forces and General Alvarez's
military and political involvement (see list of attachments).
Also attached, please find a copy of pages
59-61 of The American Connection - Volume I which
discuss the Technical Investigations Course of the United States
Office of Public Safety (OPS), reportedly given to students from
security forces of Central and South America. The same attachment
states that the OPS training was carried out in the United States
and other countries. Page 79 of Honduras: State for Sale
states that General Alvarez Martínez received OPS
training.
