Christmas Eve Blasts Kill At Least Eight In Nigeria

A series of explosions on Christmas Eve have left 32 people and 74 injured dead in a volatile region of central Nigeria, officials say.
 
Abdulrahman Akano, police comissioner of Plateau state, said the casaulties were the result of seven explosions in two separate areas of the city of Jos on December 24.
 
The explosions had been caused by home-made devices, he said.
 
Jos is the epicenter of an area riven by ethnic divisions and violence that often breaks down along
religious lines between Christians and Muslims.
 
Local rights groups say 1,500 epople have died in inter-comunal violence in the Jos region this year.
