Turkey Claims Dozens Of IS Fighters Killed By Shelling, Air Strikes

May 28, 2016

Dozens of alleged Islamic State militants have been killed by air strikes and Turkish artillery fire, Turkish media are reporting.

Turkish news agencies said on May 28 that 104 alleged militants were killed late the previous day by international-coalition air strikes and cross-border artillery fire from Turkey into Syria.

The reports citing unnamed military sources were unverified, and it is not clear how the number of fatalities was determined.

The attacks came hours after rockets were fired from Syria into the southern Turkish town of Kilis, injuring five people.

Kilis has been targeted by rocket-fire from Syria more than 70 times this year, and 21 people have been killed.
